If the Republicans, who have been in charge the last 8 years, are so anti-abortion, why have there been 4000 abortions every day??? Obama said that abortions should be rare, only used when the health of mother is at stake, or in cases of rape/incest. Guess Republicans think there should be a lot - 4000 a day! Obama/Biden 08!

"4,000 babies die every day from abortions." So what is the solution? To force women to carry them to term and give them up for adoption? To who? I agree with Obama that we need to increase education & improve birth control- our population is growing exponentially & our resources won't sustain. Stop using abortion as birth control - prevent the unwanted pregnancies to begin with! Leave abortion for when necessary (Obama voted against some bills b/c of potential to overturn Roe v. Wade.)

4000 is an average since roe v. wade. actually abortions are are their lowest point since roe under the bush years. Obama supports abortion in 100% of the cases. That is not rare.

solution to abortion is 3 fold: 1. Support Crisis Preg. Centers. 2. Increase education on life in the womb. 3. Vote for people (like McCain) who want to end abortion and not expand it and have our taxes pay for it (like Obama wants to).

sorry, but we've been there, done that. I'd like to move forward, not backwards. how does supporting crisis pregnancy centers reduce unwanted pregnancies? or education about life in the womb? That only addresses an anti-abortion stance after an unwanted pregnancy occurs and does nothing to address the issue of just what is proposed for public welfare for 4,000 babies/day if born. We need to reduce unwanted preganancies = no need for abortions for said pregnancies.

You might want to study CPCs if you don't know how they help. They are one of the best organizations in the US.
And all that education will make less babies unwanted. No baby should be unwanted. Every life is a gift of God. And if the baby is still unwanted that is what is so great about adoption - there are countless families who want the unwanted.
Teaching a value for life and the seriousness of being pregnant will reduce unwanted pregnancies.

Adoption IS wonderful, and there are currently thousands of kids in this country now who are seeking adoption. Can we realistically support 4,000/day more?
No offense, I appreciate life too, but education and better birth control methods to prevent a pregnancy in the first place is the realistic solution to ending abortion. Absitenance-only teaching is just not realistic, plus we're not just talking about teenagers here, but married couples as well.

If you want to know the real problem - it can be summed up in one word - SELFISHNESS. People are selfish. People need to learn to put life ahead of their selfish desires. 95-98% of abortions are simply because of different levels of inconvenience that a baby causes to someone's life. And that is according to Planned Parenthood numbers. And to devalue life with abortion just feeds into the selfishness. People need to learn sacrifice and servanthood in this country.

life is rarely black and white. I know a woman who was hospitalized after the 4th month for water of her lungs among others serious risks due to her pregnancy. Is it necessary for both mother (and then the fetus) to both die?

99% of Pro-life people leave an exception for the mother if the birth or pregnancy would kill her. Then it is up to them to decide to risk it or not. But it would not be wrong to do whatever it takes to keep the woman alive. That makes up about .001% of abortions.

That's ridiculous to say that if BO is president it would cut down abortions, because if that is so why did Planned Parenthood (largest provider of abortions) give 10 MILLION DOLLARS to the Obama Campaign? They wouldn't donate to someone who would REALLY cut down abortions. That's just how Obama fools stupid Christians into voting for him.
